Of all the forms of courage the ability to laugh is the most AMAZING!

Image: GoogleImages

Yes, its very courageous to laugh when you’re the wife whose husband is having an affair with their twenty-two year old PA, when you you’re the girl whose labeled a slut because she got raped in a dodgy loo in the club downtown, when you know you have a certain amount of time to live as you’re one of many individuals with a certain terminal disease.

The truth is, laughing takes a lot of courage. Naturally as individuals, we have a million and one problems to deal with yet within us lies a place for a laugh, giggle, a smile. The reason we are able to ‘laugh’ it all off is because we were never created to be miserable. If anything, I believe each and every one of us was born to live
a happy, fulfilling, holistic life. So for the most part, laughing not only shows a great deal of courage, but even greater : the character of a  soul.

When we hold on to things, we need to let go…

Holding on to the past can really disable us from moving forward and at times, we could even lose certain opportunities because of it. But then again there are just some things we can never let go such as the memory of a loved one, a long lost love, places, and things that remind us of certain phases of our lives.

The wise thing when we’re faced with the option of letting go or holding on to something is one to ask himself whether whatever they’re holding on to has any place in their lives currently. Sometimes we just can never let go as whatever we hold on to has great significance to our very being. All is left to do then is celebrate our past and embrace our future.

Crying: a sign of weakness or strength?

Picture: Free-extras.com

It really depends on the situation I would say. For instance if Caster Semenya cried because she won silver instead of gold in the London Olympics 2012, then that would’ve definitely shown weakness in her character, on the other hand a husband who has just lost his wife to cancer crying would show loss, misery, pain and expression of love for his lost one. That’s where God comes in, our eyes and graceful faces were not created to cry forever. While crying can heal the soul, it can tarnish it too. That is why we need meditation, hope and faith to carry us through difficult moments.

For two months straight I cried everyday and night none stop, if it were not for Centrum vitamins and raw carrots, I would have developed crazy fine lines and wrinkles around my eye area. Sixty days of anguish could have ended or even prevented through prayer and praise of the Most High, but instead I chose to cry.  Good, thing I’m no longer that girl, now instead of crying I choose to pray it off instead, His Word is my daily bread…

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Image: Google.com

You have no idea how many times I’ve restarted this piece, it shows that I’m perfectly fine with my real age: twenties (a woman never tells age!). Twenties are a perfect time for learning and being well aware that surely you’re no longer a kid but it doesn’t make you ‘a guru in life’s mysteries’ either. If the question would be how old ‘I’d like to be’ the answer would then be forty.

Forty is such a great age, they say ‘life begins at forty’. Sex is better, you feel and look sexier, ooze confidence. I’ve also come to realize that forty year old women are more aware of themselves personally and spiritually and they’ve ‘pretty much done it all’. They don’t settle for any “BS” which unfortunately when you’re young, get a plentiful of …Simply Put

Have you done anything lately worth remembering?

Oh yes I have!  A few weeks ago I started a personal Twitter campaign: #ThirtyDaysofKate, celebrating the life and achievements of a style icon who happens to be one of my favourite models: Kate Moss. What I did was post photographs of the supermodel over 30 days and added some text which compliments the image. I spiced things up by adding a few black and white images, her early modelling career, up-close facial pictures as well.

Having started the campaign I was sceptical some people would view this all as fickle and pointless because it is after all ‘just fashion’ but to me it’s my passion. and With every post I not only celebrated Kate Moss in style, but I told my story. A story of a young lady who amongst other passions adored the masterpieces of local and global designers, I shared with everyone a part of Me.

If presented with the opportunity to get a message to a large group of people, what would your message be? Is it possible to lie without saying a word?

If I were presented the opportunity to address a large group of people I would tell each and every one of them that everything starts with the love of The Self, but the most powerful and greatest love is to love others unconditionally. That when we do things for other people, we not only feel enlightened but it just proves that there is so much within us that we become a miracle to others.

I would go further as to mention that one has not lived fully till they’ve touched and changed a life. Not everyone is going to be Oprah and show their love and humanity through sharing their financial blessings, but anyone and everyone can be a Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and transform a life through wisdom, peace, mercy but the greatest of them all: love.

The statute of limitations has expired on most of our childhood trauma

Image: wired.com

We go about our daily lives yet majority of individuals carry things from their childhood that limit them in adulthood to achieve some of their dreams or even worse, none.

Take for instance the brilliant, intelligent kid whose parents put under constant pressure to be the top achiever and get straight A’s, if they got a B they’d be automatically placed in the ‘dumb people’ category. So what happens in their adulthood: they have to keep achieving, their career becomes their very existence, the end result: limitation of an romantic partnership, lose of time for loved one or just die wealthy, miserable and lonely. Moving on to the girl who was teased as a kid of her obesity, she grows up and realizes the world has an obsession with being waif and skinny so she eats an apple a day so society can finally except her but her insecurities are deeply rooted in the tears of the obese little girl so she starves herself to death. People remember her for a few weeks, and then society forgets her eternally.

There are a million and one story lines that I can feature here, what it all comes down to is how it is that we deal with our childhood trauma as we all have a story to tell and it’s a never ending one...
