My favorite Cat in the Hat book is ‘The Cat in the Hat Comes Back’ because...

Image: Google Images.com

The silly bugger comes back with a vengeance to do what he does best: ‘create havoc’. This time around two siblings, Sally and her little brother are left to clean up the snow while the mother is out. And out of nowhere appears the cat! Being the mischievous creature he is, he starts eating cake from the bathtub and leaves a VERY BIG PINK mess.

This cat is now thinking perhaps he needs a hand to clean up his dirt so from his very big hat pops up Cat A, then B, then C and so the cats keep popping till Cat Zillion! Instead of cleaning up the place the mess spreads to the entire bathroom, the yard, everywhere its just pink. Then out of the magical cat’s hat a sound unleashes “VOOM!!!” Ta da: All is spick n’ span. The cat wonders away with the promise he will return one day…

The main  reason why I love this particular version is the fact that at the end of the book each cat presents a letter of the alphabet which is not only a fun way to learn the alphabet, but the whole setting is terribly, utterly, adorably cute! :D

Why I have conversations?

Image: photographywithoutborders.org

The obvious answer to this question would be: I have conversations so I am able to understand what message the second party (or whoever I’m communicating with) is trying to say. And one of my greatest qualities is listening as I believe through being a great listener you not only get a different view from the other person which adds to your knowledge for the most part, most importantly you’re able to conclude your own ideas of what is being communicated to you.

Bingo! Now you have two new pieces of info to store into your library of ideologies better known as one’s ‘IQ’ or ‘Intelligence’. With that being said there are different types of conversations: social, professional, gossip, speculation, propaganda, personal, spiritual, happy, sad, seductive, sweet etc…

Yet the important thing to remember is whatever conversation we engage in is a reflection of ‘The Self’. So the next time you ‘work’ that mouth and utter those words, think what it is you’re bringing fourth to your being. It takes a word to build or destroy a man. Simply Put.

My bucket list, 100 things to do before I die (Kick the bucket!).

Image: thehappymd.com

I may not have 100 things I can think of at this very moment that I’d like to do before ‘I  kick the bucket’. But I’m sure I can improvise with  a 100 words...  Fair enough, besides if I had to write 100 things I have to do before I pass you’d probably pass out reading this piece!

Here it goes...
§         Get my MBA (Talk about ambition! the first must do on the list is career/ education related) *proud moment*

§         Travel Africa, countries I’d like to visit include: Mozambique, Nigeria, Kenya, Lesotho, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Congo, Zimbabwe (yes I’d like to visit Uncle Robert!)
Swaziland, Egypt amongst others.

§         Visit the Eiffel Tower with my husband, lover I don’t really care as long as I get a long snog in front of Her beautiful self.

§         Meet Oprah Winfrey and admire each other’s successes, I’ll be the richest and most influential woman in Africa remember…

§  I have to make this one good cause it’s the last one. I’d like to change my …..no not identity…..my last name! Yes, one day when I’m 38 I’d like to settle down and get married to a wonderful guy.  Have one kid as we’ll be too busy for a ‘The Brady Bunch’. It has to be a boy, can’t compete for my husband’s attention. But then again the anatomy of our little one will be determined by him!

I went over a 100 words, but hey that pretty much concludes my BUckEt LiSt  :D

1000 Teardrops: A grenade through my soul.

Image: fillysfriend.com

Holding back my tears just writing this piece, if I cry I’ll be letting you go and if I don’t then it’s a grenade to my soul. Months ago we were’ grand artistes’, you Picasso and me Andy Warhol. We had our own canvas of lust and love, me draping all my bold neon colours, you making sense of it all with your graceful contours. A masterpiece in the making…

Then one day our bubble burst and so did the colour on our canvas. Neons became indigo, lavender shades, grey.  All the beauty and harmony in our joined souls transformed into detachment, unfamiliarity and turmoil.  Now all we have is a canvas of hate, regret and much sadness.

We can never have our ‘happy canvas’ again, but for the most part I can throw in some pastels, you can refine our piece with your strokes.  And through it all we will have created our very own imperfect, peaceful, contradictory: Masterpiece.

My big fat BIG dream

Porsche Cayenne
Image: autocarideas.com

My big fat BIG dream would involve a mansion with 4 cars uhhmm… I’m thinking two Aston Martins, one Range Rover and a Porsche ‘Diesel’ Cayenne. My husband’s origins could be traced as far as the Ukraine no no no wait: Ireland or ever better France (hearts!). He’s is co-partner in one of the top law firms in Africa, is board member in my own company (which by the way is the top Advertising Co in the entire Africa too!). There’s still more… He owns one of the hotels at the V & A Waterfront, brags a slice of ‘The Bay Hotel’ too, this man is insanely wealthy and has other investments abroad.

I am President of a well- established,  recognised Women’s group, I also own a Health Resort / Spa which comprises of Spa Treatment,  Pilates, Yoga and Pregnancy classes for ‘New Mothers’ amongst other activities,  and NO my services do not come cheap. I have my own clothing label (The label being mine and the recognition and praise being that of my Top designer’s). And yes, I get VIP status and utter treatment comes SA Fashion week you’ll find out why shortly…. Patrice Motsepe and my husband are ‘business partners’, myself and Mrs Motsepe go for scones and tea sessions which end up at the Louis Vuitton store while everyone carries the bags for us!

My husband and I don’t see each other as often as we’d like so he travels with my scarf which smells of his gorgeous wife’s: Chanel No.7. We never go day or night without hearing each other’s voices, he doesn’t cheat on me so I have no diseases.

Besides he’s all about the Ching Ching! We have no time for kids or even make them for that matter, yet we love each other endlessly. My prince and I live happily ever after. And we give 2 percent of our earnings to the community by the way! (millions that is)… LOL. What an awfully nice big fat BIG dream!

Now back to reality, looking for industry jobs on Bizcommuity ……

What? What? Woollies!

Image: 2oceansvibe.com

I was quite taken yesterday when a fellow student mentioned that a Social media/PR crisis was taking place on Woolworth’s Facebook page, the problem at hand: Racism. A young man by the name of Justin Harrison posted on his blog over the weekend that Woolworths apparently does not open job vacancies to white people, which I must mention does not make sense (first version). Then there’s debate that the young lad saw a vacancy on a jobsite posted by Woolworths that stated that for that particular position only black, coloured and Indian candidates need apply (second and last version!). To summon matters Steve Hofmeyer posted on Twitter: “Gonna be hard, but goodbye Woollies.”

Having read and observed all these statements and claims, I couln't help conclude that although  social media has somehow given us a platform and most importantly ‘a voice’ to carry across our views and intellect, it has somehow provided a freeway of division amongst companies and the individuals they strive to satisfy through their products and services. And most importantly, it has the power to unite and divide as beings, as fellow South Africans. Hopefully we’ll collectively discover that eventually…. Simply Put.

Conventional is a good fallback position isn’t it?

Image: Annukcreations.blogspot.com

It sure is! Not only is conventional a good fallback position but its just plain boring. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that individuals with great names behind them didn’t exactly accomplish what they have being conventional, if anything they stood out from the crowd.

Take for instance the first woman to fly a plane Amelia Earhart, not only was she an intelligent courageous woman but was probably at some stage one big fat joke around the table! The thought of a woman flying a ‘man-made’ plane was absurd! Yet she did it, she became the
first person to fly the Atlantic twice, first woman to fly the Atlantic solo, she held a speed record for 100 km (and with 500 lb (230 kg) cargo, first woman to fly auto gyro , there about fifteen more achievements to go but for the most part you get the picture…  All of this she did because being different was all there was to her.

Another one would be the story of Walt Disney who was fired from his first job because he was told he was not creative enough and lacked imagination (fools!). So many times he tried to set up his own business with much failure and bankruptcy, yet the only thing that kept him going was his dream. Today Walt Disney is worth billions caused be refused to not being different. Charlie Chaplin came from a broken family with an alcoholic dad and mom with shattered dreams, yet with his odd humor tactics made history in the comedy industry, one cannot think of the history of cinema without Charlie Chaplin popping in mind, a true legend he is. His ultimate goal: to be different.
The moral of the story is not to not fear being unconventional, or better said:  Rather be a rebel with a cause rather than be a herd boy’s pet! Simply Put.
