Only bad things happen quickly.

'Only bad things happen quickly' is a statement that I do not entirely support. The truth is people in general do not consider great things that happen to them instantly. Falling in love is one good example of things that happen to people quickly (depending on who you fall in love with that is!) Making babies sometimes happens quickly! But then again that’s just one example I don’t really want to get into… And at times the decisions we make can happen instantly, yet lead us to greater places and life experiences. Personally I think bad things happen quickly only when we attract them into our lives.

For the longest time The ‘Law of Attraction’ was a forbidden, foreign conspiracy to me, I thought of it as a shallow means of anyone going
about fulfilling their destiny and living their life. But then again I look at people who have a positive outlook when it comes to where they current are and their future and see great things just fall upon them, the exact opposite occurs in those who are pessimistic of cause, bad things happen to them very quickly.

What it all comes down to is how we  interpret our experiences, its all in the mind…
Simply Put.

Second Time Around

Image: GoogleImages.com

A few years ago, I made a decision and did something I wasn’t exactly proud of. In the process, I ended up sacrificing a relationship that was dear to my heart and very being. People were hurt yet we moved on, we made peace with it and everyone went on with their lives (so I thought!). Until recently when I found myself in the same situation, same crowd, different timing.

And no, I didn’t fall in that pit again. This time around, I have a choice to decide whether I want to repeat the same mistake again and hurt everyone in the process, even worse hurt myself. On the other hand, I can just simply walk away from such evil and concentrate on what is important to me right now, my relationship with God. I choose the latter building my relationship with Jesus, there is no intelligence in repeating our mistakes.

The outcome will always be the same, the consequences may even be more severe than previously. I choose to spiritually grow and be the amazing young woman God has always planned for me to be. I choose Me

Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid

We all have different beliefs in what keeps us grounded and protected, especially when we feel like the world is unmercifully swallowing us up. Some people turn to yoga, kabbalah, Pilates, sex, a cigarette a martini whatever tickles your fancy… Me, I turn to prayer and my faith to stay strong and bold when my internal world is turned upside down.

I can’t remember a time I have prayed and not heard God talk to me, for the most part He is honest with me though I at times turn down his suggestions. Because the thing is Jesus will never reprimand us, the choice to go ahead and do whatever we want is internally up to us. Thing is ‘for every action, there’s a reaction’ *Bob Marley*.

The bottom line is when we stay bold, mighty forces do come to our rescue. They may not always come as we planned or intended them to but nonetheless we are always protected by His grace, love and mercy: God.

If not now, then when?

Images: GoogleImages.com

When it’s the ‘right time’, but is there ever really such? I remember recently fitting into my favourite pair of really cute blue Woolies jeans and having trouble fitting into them. I did what every girl does when nobody is watching: play hopscotch in denim! I tried skipping in them, stretched out my legs as far as I could, forced every loop up my waist yet all my efforts were in vain. At the end of it all I was left breathless wearing not so comfy jeans. Reality struck when I asked myself: ‘If I don’t lose these love handles now, then when?’

So today, yes no kidding, today I have started on a weight-loss programme (more like starvation programme!) to lose some flab quickly. I know yo-yo dieting is not good but I’m just so tired of not being able to wear what I want to wear, given that I have really cool clothes that are begging to be worn by such a pretty lady! Three to four weeks from now I’ll be singing a different tune, no luck needed :D.

As this girl has BIG dreams and she is taking one step at a time in reaching them.  I remember recently a fellow student giving a presentation during a Media Studies lecture and mentioning that Trevor Manuel was in fact a Mechanical Engineering student at CPUT before being in the forefront of the finance. Being the knowledgeable being she is, my Media Studies lecturer Marian Pike then added that Mr. Manuel got to be a prominent figure head within the Finance Industry only by reading as much as possible on it and being in tune with current trends. The same scenario is applicable to Gill Marcus the current Reserve Bank Governor. Not only was I astounded by this revelation, but I thought to myself “Who said I can’t compete against the media giants of today?”

Okay maybe not at this precise moment, but not too far from now I’m going to establish and put my name out there and build my own media empire. And sure enough a lot of people will laugh in my face just to kill my dream but if I have faith and believe I was destined to be right at the top, then it shall be so. Ogilvy was built on a dream, TBWA/Hunt/Lascaris was built on a dream, King James was built on a dream so let me stop with the dreaming and get my ass kicking towards my destiny (goes to Ad focus website!).

My favorite Cat in the Hat book is ‘The Cat in the Hat Comes Back’ because...

Image: Google Images.com

The silly bugger comes back with a vengeance to do what he does best: ‘create havoc’. This time around two siblings, Sally and her little brother are left to clean up the snow while the mother is out. And out of nowhere appears the cat! Being the mischievous creature he is, he starts eating cake from the bathtub and leaves a VERY BIG PINK mess.

This cat is now thinking perhaps he needs a hand to clean up his dirt so from his very big hat pops up Cat A, then B, then C and so the cats keep popping till Cat Zillion! Instead of cleaning up the place the mess spreads to the entire bathroom, the yard, everywhere its just pink. Then out of the magical cat’s hat a sound unleashes “VOOM!!!” Ta da: All is spick n’ span. The cat wonders away with the promise he will return one day…

The main  reason why I love this particular version is the fact that at the end of the book each cat presents a letter of the alphabet which is not only a fun way to learn the alphabet, but the whole setting is terribly, utterly, adorably cute! :D
